Ward 2 Residents,
Thank you for your ongoing support since 2004. It has been an honour representing you as a member of City Council. I have appreciated working with my Council Colleagues this past term, particularly with retiring City Councillor Ron Hayter representing Ward 2.
I ran for City Council in 2004 to get things done! I have with my Executive Assistant, Maryann, worked on over 10,000 constituent inquiries of concern to Ward 2 residents. I was successful this past term in securing 109 million to fix roads and neighbourhoods in Ward 2.
I have championed city-wide initiatives such as, Donate-A-Ride, Next Gen, City of Edmonton Youth Council, Child Friendly Edmonton, Capital City Clean Up, Bar Safe and more recently the Edmonton in Bloom Initiative. I also spearheaded the introduction of the dedicated 2% tax for neighbourhood renewal infrastructure to ensure that we have enough money to fix all of our neighbourhoods. To more efficiently focus our transit priorities I pushed for the decommissioning of the old trolley bus system to save money and redirect our transit priorities towards LRT development. I lead the charge for the development of the NAIT LRT Line, which just received full funding and will be completed by the spring of 2014.
I am not going to tell you that I have all of the answers to the challenges facing our city, but I assure you I will continue to research the issues, work hard and apply common sense when making decisions. I have appreciated your support these past 6 years and ask for your continued support on October 18th.
